Comics Rant: Swamp Thing #4

Swamp Thing #4
Written by Len Wein
Drawn by Kelley Jones
Colored by Michelle Madsen

"Aw, ya'll done fucked up now." Is what's happening in this issue of the Swamp Thing mini series. So Alec Holland has been talked into transferring the power of the Swamp Thing to his good pal, Matt Cable. I don't know about you, but if you have an awesome power and your friend asks for it, I'd be a little suspect of their motives.

Comics Rant: Superman #51

Superman #51
Written by Peter J. Tomasi
Drawn and Colored by Mikel Janin

The last days of Superman?!! This shit again? Ugh. Well, at the very least we get this story from the mind of Peter J. Tomasi. You know, of Batman and Robin fame. No, who you're thinking isn't Grant Morrison. Tomasi starts and stays strong. Morrison cashes the check and gets the fuck out of dodge. Yup. So Superman learns he's dying. I guess he won't have to pay off his credit card balance. Lucky him. But Supes is taking it like a real champ. Instead of crying about it, he heads back to Smallville.

Comics Rant: Amazing Spider-Man #10

Amazing Spider-Man #10
Written by Dan Slott
 Penciled by Giuseppe Camuncoli
Inked by Cam Smith
Colored by Marte Gracia

This book is amazing. Okay, I'm done with the puns. For now, anyway. I'm back with my rant for Amazing Spider-Man #10, as you can no doubt tell from the header. Spidey fell from space and now he's smacked dab in the middle of going to be killed by Scorpio, the leader of Zodiac. But just before the deed can be done, Zodiac says "Fuck it," and decides to leave and that he can kill Spider-Man some other time. Moron.

Comics Rant: Batman #51

Batman #51
Written by Scott Snyder
Penciled by Greg Capullo
Inked by Danny Miki
Colored by Fco Plascencia

We interrupt this action packed issue of Batman to bring you Gotham City, where once everything goes.... right? We have Bruce Wayne who's back as Batman. Minus the scars and hits from the last few years of being blown up or shot or stabbed. You know, it's pretty much what Batman would call a normal night out in Gotham. If you don't know why the Bruce Wayne Batman is back then you should read my last rant of Batman #50. It's a doozy.

Comics Rant: Silver Surfer #3

Silver Surfer ##3
Written By Dan Slott & Michael Allred
Drawn By Michael Allred
Colored By Laura Allred

Shalla Bal is back! And she wants not only the Silver Surfer, as well. But she's takin' the Earth, too. Bonus points. Shalla Bal is using the technology from her and the Surfer's planet Zenn La to remake Earth in their image. But wait, there's more. She's found the Thing, good ol' Ben Grimm, hanging around in space and remakes him into her slave. Wow. If I had a nickel every time the Thing was made a slave, I'd have ten cents. Bonus, if you're old enough to remember when the Thing was stuck on that planet of the gangster and wound up a slave there as well. Talk about Classic FF. Also insensitive by today's standards.

Comics Rant: Black Widow #2

Black Widow #2
Written by Mark Waid and Chris Samnee
Drawn by Chris Samnee
Colored by Matthew Wilson

Man, this has quickly become one of my favorite books to read and it's only on the second issue.  Last issue started with a bang. Right out of the gate, Black Widow attacked the agents on the SHIELD Hellicarrier. Along with kicking ass, Black Widow ends up stealing this super important hard drive. During the first issue, you don't know why, but we get some insight here.

Comics Rant: Doctor Strange #6

Doctor Strange #6
Written by Jason Aaron
Penciled by Chris Bachalo
Inked by Tim Townsend, Al Vey, Mark Irwin,John Livesay, Wayne Faucher, Victor Olazaba & Jamie Mendoza
Colored by Chris Bachalo

Man, I know I say this every time I write a review of this comic but it seems like they have a million inkers on this book. Now, I wonder if they all get paid the same wage or they are all forced to split the dollar amount that goes to Tim Townsend. Knowing how it goes down at Marvel, they most likely make them do battle with a 15 foot high steel cage. Then the winner gets the check, only to be attacked from behind by Stan Lee, who then takes the check for himself. Hey, it's not like he's never done it before. 1. I kid, and 2. am I? And 3. boy, I've been watching way too much WWE Network. (Only $9.99)
