Comics Rant: Black Widow #9

Black Widow #9
Story by Mark Waid & Chris Samnee
Drawn by Chris Samnee
Colored by Matthew Wilson

In reality, the market has been flooded with relaunched super hero books and it feels like to me, anyway, a great deal of them ain't worth the paper they are printed on. Creative teams that don't stick beyond a few issues, or that get twice a month shipping that really cuts into the quality (no, I'm not talking about you, Amazing Spider-Man) of the comic brings down, in my opinion, the industry as a whole.

But that's where you have a title

Comics Rant: Silver Surfer #8

Silver Surfer #8
Story & Art by Dan Slott & Michael Allred
Colored by Laura Allred

In sector gamma 9 of the universe, things just got real. Silver Surfer and Dawn Greenwood are flying out in the dark vacuum of space. That's how most of their tales begin, but here, they get eaten by a giant space whale named Jumbonox the Gignormous. Great name, I know. Just when things are looking bleak for the two, they find themselves in the stomach (naturally) and then are suddenly overwhelmed by Jumbonox's immune system in the form of cool looking pink antibodies. Yup, you read that right, too.

Comics Rant: Superman #11

Superman #11
Written by Peter J. Tomasi & Patrick Gleason
Penciled by Patrick Gleason
Inked by Mick Gray,Mark Morales & Christian Alamy
Colored by John Kalisz

More of the Supersons, and boy, I kinda have to admit, this is starting to wear a bit thin. Well, I guess to be fair this story with Robin and Superboy teaming together was only about two issues. Thankfully, Tomasi and crew didn't try to give it the Bendis treatment and stretch this shit out to 7 and a half issues. Ugh. Wait? What's that? Wizard doesn't make those 1/2 issues anymore? Or even publish its own magazine anymore. Well, color me surprised. And angry. Because I just sent my $5.99 in that little envelope for a copy of Superman #11 1/2.

Comics Rant: Mighty Thor #13

Mighty Thor #13
Written by Jason Aaron
Drawn by Steve Epting
Colored by Frank Martin

The bright side to all this is seeing the great Steve Epting drawing a Marvel comic. It's just too bad it isn't Captain America, but you know what? I'll take what I can get. Thor has called together the League of Realms in her battle against the evil Malekith. When a bad guy is throwing down like this and even the Mighty Thor herself needs back up, you know it's a tough road ahead.

The League of Realms here is now acting as it's own independent body and taking the war to Malekith head on and that begins with expelling
